Columbia University

Columbia University  is an American non-government  Ivy League research university in the City of New York.It is situated in Morningside Heights of the  Upper Manhattan which is in New York City.

This  University  is the oldest institution for  higher education  in New York state, the fifth oldest in the history of United States, and known as one of the Colonial Colleges which was founded before the  Revolution of the American . In the year 1754 , Great Britain's Royal charter of George II   founded  this university as  King's College  .  In the year 1784 , King's College was renamed as Columbia College after the American Revolutionary War  and  became a  property of united state . 

The University now runs under a private board of trustees that places  the institution under a 1787 charter  , and it was again  renamed Columbia University in the year 1896 .In the same year, the university's campus changed it's location  from Madison Avenue to its present  location in Morningside Heights, where it reside more than six city blocks area , or 32 acres (13 ha). Today this  university runs Columbia Global Centers having it's branch  in Amman,  Istanbul, Beijing, Paris, Mumbai, , Santiago Rio de Janeiro and Nairobi.

The university surround twenty schools and is recognized  with many  institutions, along with Teachers College ,  the Union Theological Seminary and Barnard College in addition with  undergraduate programs accessible with the  Juilliard School  as well as the Jewish Theological Seminary of America  .

Columbia university yearly organize  the Pulitzer Prize . Additionally, 101 Nobel Prize honours have been officially achieved by the university as students,  staff  or faculty . This university being   one of the fourteen founding members of the Association of American Universities, and being  the first school  to grant the M.D. degree in the United States .
